Meet Bestie, Hihi and Chill

How it works, in 6 steps

  1. Log it in one sentence Type it like a text: who, how much, what for. Meow Debt sorts it into fields for you, and you tap any field that is off to fix it. Who: Jordan Amount: $38.00 For: Concert ticket
  2. A coinling goes out to play Every IOU becomes a little coin with a face. The longer it is away, the more homesick it gets, then mossy. A red pen circle means it is past the due date. They owe me $50.50 41 days mossy
  3. Call it home, without the awkward part One tap and the trio writes a cute card with the amount and your get-paid QR. Pick a voice, tweak the words if you like, then send it yourself. 3 voices Sweet · Tease · Blunt Get-paid QR
  4. Split the bill with the group Equally, by item or by share. Mark who already paid at the table; everyone else becomes a coinling. By item Make 3 coinlings
  5. Paid back? Cross it off The red pen crosses it out, the coinling runs home and Chill drops it in the jar. Send a thank-you card if you like. +3 fish snacks for the trio Coin's home!
  6. Dress up the trio Logging and settling earn fish snacks. Trade them for hats, glasses, scarves, tops and shoes. Outfits stay in the app and never appear on your cards. Pink beanie 30 fish snacks 145 outfits for all three

Coinlings

Every debt is a little coinling

Each one has a face, an age, and always wants to come home.

They owe meYou lent it — your yellow coinling is out playing at a friend's. They owe you.

I oweYou borrowed it — their pink coinling came to stay, suitcase and all. You owe them.

Coin age

One look tells you how long it's been out

14 days · homesick

0–7 days8–30 daysday 31 on

Past the due date, it gets a red pen circle — a heads-up, not a scolding. Coinlings are never sad or cross. Mossy just means they dozed off.

The trio

Features

Small book, big help

Everything you need to keep money between friends friendly. Nothing you don't: no budgets, no bank links, no streaks.

Add a debt in one sentence

Tap + in the middle of the bottom bar and type it like a text: who, how much, what for. Meow Debt sorts it into fields — tap any field that's off to fix it.

Three ways to split, all fair

Tap who ate each dish — skipped the beef, skip paying for it. Bigger appetite? Give them ×2 or ×3 shares.

Awkward to ask? We'll say it for you

Meow Debt never sends anything on its own — you always press send.

Each payment carves out a slice

A friend paid some back? Open the coinling, tap Log a payment and pick 25%, 50% or type an amount. The pale, dashed slice is the part that's come home.

Who owes whom, at a glance

The Friends tab groups coinlings by person: a yellow dot means they owe you, pink means you owe them.

Paid in full? Cross it off, into the jar

Want to let it go? Gift the coinling — the book records a present, not a debt.

Questions

Good to know

What is Meow Debt?

Meow Debt is an IOU book for iPhone and iPad. Type one sentence to log a debt, split a bill with the group, and let three mascots, Bestie, Hihi and Chill, write a friendly nudge card that you send yourself.

Is Meow Debt free?

Yes, free to use: debts, bill splits, friends, the coin jar, fish snacks and the Sweet voice. The free book holds 12 open coinlings at once. Meow Debt Pro (monthly, yearly or lifetime) adds unlimited coinlings, the Tease and Blunt voices, cards without the watermark, Pro outfits and an Excel report. There is no free trial.

Does Meow Debt message my friends by itself?

Never. Nudge cards only go out when you tap send, in the messaging app you choose. Reminders are just for you: at most once a day, 3 times a week, never after 9 PM.

Where is my data? Do I need an account?

No account. Your book stays on your device and syncs through your own iCloud, attached photos too. No ads, no tracking, no data collected. You can lock it with Face ID and shake your phone to hide the amounts.

Does Meow Debt move money?

No. Meow Debt only keeps records: it doesn't lend, hold or move money. You can put your get-paid QR code or payment link on a nudge card so friends pay you directly with their own bank app.

How does splitting a bill work?

Open Add a coinling, tap "Splitting a bill?" and go through three steps: the bill, who ate, and how to split it (equally, by item or by share). Mark who already paid at the table; everyone else becomes a coinling.

Who are Bestie, Hihi and Chill?

The trio that keeps your book: Bestie the cat (Sweet voice), Hihi the tanuki (Tease) and Chill the toad (Blunt). Rename them, dress them up with fish snacks, or turn on Serious mode to hide them and keep just the numbers.
